It introduced Helga Anders as Julia the horse friendly 16 year old. In real life she was an excellent rider.
The title music in the uk by Jacky was specially recorded at De lane Leigh studios in 1968.The stereo version has been released but it's the pitched up Mono Dub that was used for the intro by Lous Elman
Points of interest it was Louie Elman who directed the UK version of this series which took him 12 months to complete and a rather hefty bill for the BBC children's dept. The new version of The White Horses will use English sub-titles and include the original UK theme tune as sung by Jacky aka Jackie lee. Vladamir Carin wrote the TV scripts and produced 3 books. I had to go back to the master tape as my back up Dvd copy had deteriorated quite badly. Here it is again I hope you enjoy this dreamy adventure with a White horse called Eurocheque and bohemian castles in the distance. This version of Cinderella is quite different to Disney's and imo is far better.

I’ve just ordered the DVDs of this series to add to my collection of my favourite TV series back then, from the website shown. I’ve got Follyfoot, Robinson Crusoe, The Flaxton Boys and Tom Grattan’s War too. It’s just a pity I can’t get the series of Black Beauty that was on then. I was 12 when this was on TV. Telly was the best in those days. So much better than the rubbish shown now.
So glad to have found this. I lost my sister a few weeks ago, a life long equestrian. This was the theme tune to our life way back when. It brings tears to my eyes watching it now. We are playing the theme tune at her funeral in Monday.
So sorry for your loss. These fond memories are bittersweet. Our family members, usually parents(in my case) no longer. With us. I miss my sweet gentle mother. She was in her 30s and happy back then. God bless and comfort you and yours in these sad times.

LIke everyone of a Certain Age, of course I remember the beautiful horses and especially the glorious theme tune, but watching the first episode for the first time since I was about six I'm struck by just how good the story is. I understand the English dubbed versions are lost but if this is the quality of the subtitled version then I'm absolutely fine with that. Love this, thanks for posting "Julka" !

❤❤❤❤watching this series❤❤❤the theme tune sung by Jackie. Where have those 50+ years gone - too fast When times were ‘simpler’. As kids we had more freedoms. Came back from school, did your homework and after tea went out to play with my mates in the road (lived in cul-de-sac) and ran all over the place. Yes we ate rubbish, lots of biscuits, sweets and fizzy pop but we had exercise, swimming and on bicycles ❤️❤️👍 👍 🏴🏴🌼🌼

Thanks I recorded it in 1981 from the BBC on a video recorder. It was never broadcast again after that with the English narrator.
It was broadcast 4 times, once each in 1975, 1976, 1979 and finally from 23 July to 6 August 1982, always around 5pm on BBC 1. Any recordings found are likely to be from the last one (a second copy of the English soundtrack to recover that glitch at the end of part 1 would be nice!)

The stereo version has no reverb on Jackies voice and slightly shorter middle eight.
I believe it is a different recording. There was also another version for the series with additional guitar sections, these are my favorite. When I spoke to phonogram who took over Philips they said they favoured the mono version, so there were two distinct versions. They were all held on Sony u-matic tape for whatever reasons they had. I was making an enquiry for a minimum order at the time which was 1000 copies of the mono version. It was to expensive for me @50p per pressing lol, but now we can sample all the versions. There were 2 different uk mono pressings the later pressing had increased base, so at some point the masters must have been revisited or reequalised and this for me is the preferred version.
I despised this black and white programme showed on the BBC during the summer holidays during the 1970s. It were as if, "Well, they're just children, so play this cheap rubbish", when all the other programmes throughout the year were in colour. Just as bad as the equally vile "Belle and Sebastian".
